Shauna Dowless
OSU Stock Horse Team President
Shauna grew up in Philomath, OR and fell in love with horses at
an early age. She bought her first horse when she was in middle school and has owned and ridden horses ever since.
Throughout grade shool Shauna was very involved with 4-H and later competed in OHSET at a District and State level. After graduating from high school, Shauna attended Linn Benton Community College and earned an AS degree in Biology.
Currently a senior at Oregon State University, Shauna is majoring
in Animal Science. She has a strong passion for animals and plans to pursue a career involving animal health and/or research.
In 2011, she was the Philomath Frolic and Rodeo Queen and really enjoyed being a travelling ambassador for the sport of rodeo. She loved riding with drill teams and performed with various teams at high school competitions and NPRA rodeos.
Barrel racing with her mare “Lady” and helping children and teens learn more about horses is what Shauna enjoys doing when not at school. She also remains a volunteer for the Philomath Frolic and Rodeo as their Raffle Prize Chairman.
Shauna and her husband Matt live in Philomath with their three dogs, a cat and three horses.
WSSH Collegiate Representative (OSU)
Briana Lee
Briana was born and raised in Canby, OR. With her twin brother, she grew up showing cattle, goats and horses. Competition and the love for animals have always been in her blood.
She first learned how to ride on her Grandparents Tennessee Walking Horse, Beamer. And then when she was ten, she had her own horse, a four-year-old green-broke Arabian mare. That was probably the best and worst decision ever made, but that smart little mare made her the toughest and best rider she could ever be.
Soon Briana moved on to Quarter horses, first with Otis, a 21 year-old gelding and later Max, an 11 year-old gelding. Max took her through many years of 4-H and two years of OHSET. Her newest horse is Watch The Tiger (aka Raider).
Team Penning and Ranch Sorting competitions have become a big part of her horse world. The people in CTPA, WVTPA, and RSNC have become some her favorite people to be around.
Briana is currently attending Oregon State University where she is majoring in Sociology and minoring in Psychology.
Besides her love for animals, she also enjoys traveling, singing, photography, and being outdoors. WSSH is a new found love that both she and Raider are excited to be part of.
